Men's Section: Seeking Your Support and Ideas

In 2024, we introduced a Senior Men’s League, held on Mondays. While initial registrations were promising, participation unfortunately waned as the season progressed. As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the league for 2025.

Despite this setback, we remain fully committed to creating a successful Senior Men’s League in the future. To ensure its success, it is vital that the Men’s Section have a captain and co-captain to represent members and explore strategies for enhancing all league offerings.

We need your input and support to make this vision a reality. Whether it’s exploring new formats, adjusting the schedule, or considering alternative ideas, we’re open to suggestions. This is an important project for 2025 as we plan toward building a strong Men’s Section and a thriving Senior Men’s League for the 2026 season.

We invite you to share your ideas during the Men's Opening Meeting on Wednesday, April 23rd at 6 PM. Your involvement is key to creating an engaging and successful league for our senior members.

Let’s work together to make this initiative a success!

Calgary & District Senior Men's Interclub

Eligible Members:  All men who are members and 55 years of age and over.

When:  Each week, four players (two on an “A” team and two on a “B” team) will play a match at the host club’s course.

How to Sign-up:

Initial registration for this league is done electronically via an email to all members at the beginning of each season.  Please ensure to register at that time.  To add your name to this league at a later date, please email contact noted below.

League members will be advised of the dates and locations at the beginning of the season.

How it Works: The home teams would be the hosts for the visiting teams with regards to drinks, meals, and snacks. Power Carts are not provided by the host course, however push carts are available for free. How the players are assigned each week is a matter for each club to determine.

“A” players should have a lower handicap index 15.0 and lower - and “B” players a higher handicap index 15.1 and higher.  Some clubs may find these ranges very limiting for either A or B teams so some ‘limited’ leeway is permitted and should be explained prior to play!

Matches are a home and home series. Scoring is a “best ball” three (3) point Nassau (1 point for the front nine, 1 for back nine, and aggregate and ½ point for ties) with the “A” players playing against each other and the “B” players playing against each other.  Both “A” and “B” players will play from the same tees designated as the “Senior Tees” by the host Club.  At Elbow Springs, we will play from the White tees (~6,000 yards).

Each player is responsible for providing his current Golf Canada Handicap Index to his Inter Club coordinator and that Index should be forwarded to the Pro Shop of the Home course in advance of the match. Players, whose handicap is suspect or not up to date, should not play in the Interclub League.

Use 100% of the handicaps with the lowest handicap in the foursome going to zero and the others adjusted down accordingly. Remember that to ensure compliance with speed of play players who are out of the hole should pick up as this is a two-man match play format.
